In this seminar, we will be exploring how to navigate and mitigate the perceived risks associated with implementing circular solutions in the built environment. We’ll examine key risk areas—technical, compliance, and financial—and provide actionable strategies to address them effectively. We will be joined by some CBC Blueprint Projects (BPPs) who will share their insights on insurance, future markets, and shared standards.

At this year's Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, the Green Agora stage witnessed a unique spectacle—a reenactment of the 1984 classic Ghostbusters. But instead of capturing ghosts, we focused on dispelling common misconceptions around circularity in the built environment. Alongside Dimitris Karamitsos, Fabio Barbero, and Jorrit Vervoordeldonk, we took the stage as the "Circular Ghostbusters," a team assembled by the Circular Buildings Coalition (CBC) to tackle the perceived barriers holding back circular solutions in construction and urban planning.

The Circular Buildings Coalition (CBC) is presenting the outcomes of its collaborative work at the World Circular Economy Forum 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. On the 17th of April, 2024, we will host a full day of Accelerator sessions, looking back at what we have accomplished together and envisioning the future of the circular built environment in Europe. 

Join us on 17 April for a full day of circularity in the built environment! Our event features four expert-led sessions, delving into regenerative design, business cases and circular scenarios. In addition, our phase-two Blueprint Project winners will present their innovative solutions. During the event, the CBC will also unveil its final report discussing four pathways for a net zero in the built environment.

The Circular Buildings Coalition (CBC) is proud to announce the projects moving forward to the second phase of its Blueprint Projects initiative. After carefully evaluating whitepapers submitted by the ten projects selected for phase one, the coalition partners singled out five initiatives to be granted € 75,000 to pilot their solution. 

Ten winners have been selected from our Open Call. At the Smart City Expo 7 organisations will show how they can accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the built environment.

At Urban Futures, we presented our main report on the three systemic challenges in the built environment, with a special emphasis on the rapidly depleting carbon budget. We are committed to helping the public understand the importance of these challenges and the need to take action

On the 1st of June we launched our flagship report, Towards a circular economy in the built environment, alongside our Open Call. At the World Circular Economy Forum, the CBC hosted a session with ICLEI, in which the three main topics of the report were highlighted and substantiated with practical examples.
